Mission Sleigh Bed

2014 · Reclaimed LA Douglas fir and cedar, brass bed bolts, reclaimed conveyor-belt grommets
84"L × 74"W × 45"H
Made for Pat and Ed Hamilton, Hamilton Press, Venice, CA

A remix of two classics: the slats of a mission-style bed with the curves of a sleigh bed. Built from reclaimed Los Angeles Douglas fir, with unfinished reclaimed cedar mattress slats left bare on purpose to ward off moths. The head and foot slats are milled into their curve on the CNC. The bed bolts are brass, tightened with a custom key; their washers are reclaimed grommets that once held conveyor-belt rollers on a belt on Cannery Row in Northern California.

Made for Andrew's good friends Pat and Ed Hamilton, who own and operate Hamilton Press in Venice — the same couple whose Hollywood home supplied the wood for Andrew's very first LA table, the 2007 Slide Table.
