A two-legged chair built from antique Southern Yellow Pine recycled from beams pulled out of the original Nabisco factory in New York, now Chelsea Market. The seat is upholstered in charcoal corduroy, its rows bending around the freeform shape to echo the way the wood grain bends around the same curves. The backrest is a pool noodle mounted on a freeform bent-rod support — bold, a little cartoonish, and, Andrew notes, very comfortable. All the joinery — oversized nuts, bolts, and beam screws — is hidden rather than shown.
The chair grew directly out of the Foamy Chair, a playful first-assignment sketch from Andrew's time at Cranbrook under artist-in-residence Scott Klinker.
